Dr Rowley condemns the treatment of livestock transport as cruel and urges public outrage to halt the practice. President Francis H Rowley of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals announced plans to file charges against railroads and slaughterers after agents found calves from New York State arriving at Brighton and Watertown yards in poor condition. He alleges many calves die of thirst and starvation during long journeys and some are slaughtered dying to end their suffering. He also claims carcasses are inflated with air to look healthy before sale in Boston.
Frenry Feuerstein, owner of Malden Knitting Mills, was badly burned while trying to extinguish a kitchen blaze at his 12 Seaview Avenue home. He was moved to Dr J G Green's residence in critical condition after escaping the flames.

Firemen Captain Kelley Captain Stengle and Captain Thompson were overcome while residents and elevator boys guided others to safety as candles were provided and the fire controlled. Dr. B A Lindstrom aided injured crews and revived two firefighters with electric treatment once airborne.

Six men from Truck I battled through a jail cell room when a gasoline tank exploded causing a back draft and trapping three in a corner who died from burns. The remaining three reached a barred window as water sprayed from outside and the roof collapsed. Ladders were lowered and the men were rescued. The report notes other fatalities in the event.
