Striking Market Moves Amid Higher Prices In April
The market showed active trading with most sectors higher led by leather and gas utilities. Copper in London rose again as speculation grows. Kearsarge edged up after early declines while Mexican Central earnings rose 15 percent year over year. A private London cable noted stronger demand for bonds and a broad market upturn, with Atchison reorganization plans drawing strong interest from major banks and investors.

Pekin Peace Talks Delayed Likely Until Armistice Ends
Washington reports indicate low odds for a quick end to China Japan peace talks before the April 20 armistice expiry. If talks fail, Japan may move on Moukden and Pekin, with Pekin possibly besieged within two weeks after marching begins. The main dispute involves indemnity and Port Arthur occupation, with a proposed settlement possibly outlining a temporary Port Arthur transfer. The indemnity is clarified as 300 million taels about 215 million dollars gold standard. China hopes European powers will intervene, a hope deemed unlikely.
