Review of The Story of Ancient Egypt by Rawlinson and Gilman

It surveys Egypt’s geography from Nile to delta, notes its modest size yet vast productivity, and highlights monumental ancient engineering. It discusses the mixed origins of Egyptians, scarce myths, and the famed pyramids sphinx and Memnon, ending with prosaic explanations of the Memnon statue’s dawn tones.
