Boston High Schools Pressed for Outdated Bookkeeping Methods

Edward Stevens former Charlestown High School pupil and now a bookkeeper accused Boston area schools of teaching obsolete bookkeeping. He spoke at Ford Hall after remarks by Dr. Colin A. Scott Miss Lotta A. Clark and Miss Mary Mulry. He urged shift from book ledger to card ledger systems as more efficient for business life.

Harvard Improvement Association Banquet Held Tonight

The Harvard Improvement Association of Dorchester marks twenty five years with a banquet and entertainment in Whiton Hall Dorchester tonight. William J. Drew chairs the event with officers Moses B. Hopedale Strikers and Police Enjoy Boston Vaudeville

In Hopedale on April 6 strikers and on duty police were entertained by a Boston vaudeville team at the Draper Mills. Briscoe Draper and local officials hosted about 100 police officers in the Draper House dining room. Bob Finlay and the Chesleigh girls performed to cheers and were shown through the Draper plant. The performers later entertained the strikers, who welcomed them kindly before Sunday return visits are planned.

EX-AUDITOR DODGE DEAD IN BOSTON AT 119

James H. Dodge longtime Boston city auditor died at his Jamaica Plain home at 9 15 p m. A Civil War veteran he served the city from 1867 rising to auditor of the city and Suffolk county in 1881 resigning in 1964. Survived by widow and three sons William B J Herbert and Edgar R Dodge.

Walker Whiteside tops local stage in The Typhoon at Majestic

Walker Whiteside arrives in Boston for the week’s performance of The Typhoon in which he plays a Japanese diplomat. He says Japanese officials closely monitor U S defenses and world war plans after two years of study of Japanese representatives in various cities. He asserts the existence of the yellow peril and notes Mikado diplomats are well informed about nations and military strength.

Ice costs rise in Greater Boston markets

Maine Man Dies of Gas in West End

A man believed to be Emerson Bennett of Richmond was found dead in bed at the Thorndike House on 16 Green Street yesterday noon. Authorities reported death likely due to gas exposure and are investigating the incident as a possible accidental death.
