A charity fancy dress ball at the Copley Plaza tonight brings Boston social leaders together with about 300 New York elites. Attendees include Charles M. Schwab and Jay Gould Jr, who arrived and checked in, with Hamilton Fish among other prominent New Yorkers expected to attend.
Percy Haughton leads arrangements for a grand Boston ball. Mrs G R Fearing Jr and Mrs A Hollingsworth organize the event with lavish costumes and electric lighting. Notables from Boston and New York will view from special boxes as music by top New York musicians accompanies a sky painted floral ballroom inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream.
At midnight two more arrests were made in the port customs fraud inquiry. Terrence J. Shevlin, former deputy collector, and his wife were jailed on March 27. The latest detainees are Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Schram, sister and brother in law of Mrs. Shevlin. Lena Bradley is known by her maiden name.
Mrs Schram and Miss Brennan are in federal custody linked to smuggling a trunk into the port, transported from New York aboard the Carpathia on March 17. They were interrogated at the Custom House by Assistant US Attorney Garland after arrival on the 3 pm train, with several federal agents present.
Dr. Friedmann arrives in Providence at 2 PM tomorrow for a two week stay. He will be greeted by Dr. W L Harris and Dr. W G Dwinell at the State House with Governor Pothier officiating. He plans hospital visits, clinic talks, and private patient work at the Narragansett Hotel.

On Great Bay near Portsmouth New Hampshire April 7 two boys William Leary a college student and Ralph Brackett Exeter Academy pupil saved hunter Herbert Bragdon from drowning. The raft capsized and Bragdon went under. Leary grabbed him by the hair and pulled him to the boat. They revived him after a long effort and summoned aid.
John Domingos and Joseph M Sariva pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges in the death of Arthur Boisvert after a fight among five Portuguese. Each was held on 10000 bail for a hearing set April 16.
