Temporary suspension of long and short haul clause by ICC

The Interstate Commerce Commission grants a 90 day temporary relief to Southern railroads from the long and short haul restriction east of the Mississippi and south of the Ohio and Potomac rivers. A full South inquiry will follow, with railways and steamship lines listed among petitioners for authority to charge rates across many states. The decision, amid criticism, relies on congressional discretion and aims to stabilize traffic during investigation.
