Boston Mercantile Affairs Committees Vote Kept Wires In Ground
The House committee on mercantile affairs voted five to four to withdraw on the petition to bury trolley wires in Boston. Dissenters were Senators Davis and Gallivan and Representative Kelley. The panel also voted to withdraw on the Lombard reorganization bill and opposed bills regulating engineers, telephone rates, and a telephone-rate study commission. The panel reported a public school retirement fund and a Flint Real Estate Company charter. A governor’s message requested 17500 for a hospital water system, and a street railway petition to extend tracks received withdrawal. A licensing bill for motormen passed Senate comment, while a peach yellows commission was killed. The free transfer bill drew secret session review but no action until after the elevated railroad bill.
