Sara Crewe as a wholesome child companion in fiction
A critical note praises Frances Hodgson Burnett's Sara Crewe as a character driven tale. It contrasts it with adventure stories and Little Women, Tom Brown at Rugby, and Little Lord Fauntleroy, arguing Sara Crewe engages readers through her virtues and sacrifices rather than mere fortune. The review notes the book's appeal lies in loving the heroine for herself and not her sudden ascent.
