Mt Vernon Arrival Parade Ships to Dock at Commonwealth Pier

After a triumphal procession up the harbor the first unit of the Yanks will dock at Commonwealth Pier at 2 PM this afternoon. A riot of noise and cheering steamer parades will greet the flotilla as it is convoyed to its wharf with troops not landing until tomorrow morning.

Peace Talks Stagnant as Leaders Press for Breakthrough

Paris April 3 AP report says President Wilson and Premiers Lloyd George Clemenceau and Orlando met at Wilsons residence with other peace conference groups. Talks aimed at resolving tangled issues but no tangible progress emerged as the Four Powers labored for 10 days. Maj Gen Hale and 5824 troops aboard Mt Vernon.

Forecast for Southern New England Rain Friday Night

Forecast notes rain in southern New England Friday with rain in the west portion by night and Saturday. Northern New England is expected to be fair Friday with Vermont seeing rain. Winds along the Atlantic coasts are described as moderate south and southwest to south.

Mt Vernon reports all well as advance troops reach Boston Harbor

Military and navy officials announced at midnight that wireless communication with Mt Vernon confirmed all aboard the Yankee Division vessel were safe. Officials say they will maintain contact periodically as the ship proceeds toward Boston Harbor this afternoon.

Assault on Eva Trahan Leaves Her Hovering Between Life and Death

Lawrence men describe a brutal attack on Eva Trahan 21 at 190 Water Street. Victim alleges Victor Demers 43, widower, struck her with a hammer and pen knife causing a three inch throat wound and head contusions. She is at Lawrence General Hospital in serious condition.

Police believe Demers fled in night clothing and may have taken his own life. The incident continues on page seven in the third column.

Everett driver foils two holdup men in Charlestown

Thomas Hewett of 189 Main street Everett reported to police that while driving a wagon through Charlestown he wrested an automatic from one highwayman and beat off the two men.

Soldiers M Arching Home From Castle Island Tribute

Castle Island in South Boston will become a grandstand as thousands of relatives await the 26th men aboard the transport Mt. Verner. The Mt. Vernon is set to pass Castle Island just after 12 noon with hundreds of schoolchildren cheering and singing as the troopship nears Camp Devens.

Governor Beeckman Signs Day Law Test Act

Providence April 3 Governor Beeckman signed a resolution directing the Attorney General to obtain from the United States Supreme Court a determination of the constitutional validity of the prohibition amendment. The measure, passed by the Senate in concurrence, was reported for transmission to the Governor by the engrossed acts committee.
