Washington reports the Picardy battle halted and observers question why a major counter assault has not occurred. Analysts note reduced German momentum and wonder if Allied forces will renew pressure before the enemy entrenches further.
Nine Cambridge youths in a stolen sedan fled toward Watertown, triggering a police trap. Fire Chief John O Hearn blocked the street with a ladder truck, forcing the car to crash. Eleven youths were seized as officers arrested them for larceny of an automobile.
Dr Karl Oscar Bertling an alien enemy arrested Friday night was granted permission to marry Miss Helene Glotz of New York. The ceremony was held at the home of Rev John M Wilson in Lexington just before 6 pm with witnesses Special Assistant US District Attorney Francis G Goodale and Deputy US Marshal Benjamin Scully present.
The minister was asked by telephone in the late afternoon to marry a couple and he replied that he would. Later an automobile brought the wedding party to the ceremony.
Count Czernin of Austria, addressing a Vienna delegation in Amsterdam, stated that Austria seeks peace but Entente leaders make it impossible now. He said Central Powers began their offensive reluctantly after France’s peace bid failed to drop Alsace Lorraine claims. He asserted any Austria Germany split would fail and absolved President Wilson of intent.

In Columbia on April 3 President Haughton Manager Stallings and Charlie Herzog conferred before the train trip. A tentative agreement between the Boston club and the player was reached after concessions on salary bonus and contract for 1919.
