Frank Noyes, 60, coal dealer of 20 Blue Hill Avenue, after worrying over his dead daughter Alice, fatally shoots his wife, 58, at their Dorchester home and then kills himself at 11 Hamlet Street. Mrs Noyes is in critical condition at City Hospital. Their daughter Edith and a neighbor’s infant escape unharmed as the maniac fires inside after attending Roxbury Lodge K P.
The 109th annual session meets in Melrose with Bishop Charles A. Fowler presiding. He will set appointments and preach next Sunday. Possible changes include Boston and Lynn presiding elders and the potential creation of a new missionary district.
After a Twentieth Century Club meeting a sub committee plans circulars to urge Congregational ministers nationwide to support refunding John D. Rockefeller's gift to the American Board. The group led by Rev. Daniel Evans meets the prudential committee in secret at Congregational House, with members declining to comment.
March fares on the Boston and Worcester trolley line rise 28 percent due to improved service. Cars depart Park Square every 15 minutes. Low fares and better service advertised to attract riders.
Six suits totaling eighteen thousand dollars were filed against James Doyle a former Boston Alderman and John J. O'Brien doing business as Doyle & O'Brien at East Cambridge by Harriett E. Ringrose and her children and son in law Joseph Ringrose. The suits allege liquor was sold to James E Ringrose on August 27 September 3 and 10 after a notification not to sell to him prompting his two year sentence in Newton court. Doyle defended his actions noting a Ringrose inquiry and asserting many Roxbury dealers face similar suits while Ringrose family tensions centered on temperance.

Watertown April 3. W A McGuire a 32 year old ex fireman saved children on Mt Auburn street by halting a runaway three horse team from Fire Engine 1 after the king bolt broke. He grabbed the bridle and directed the horses to a stop near a picket fence. McGuire was uninjured and requested no publicity.
Ubero Plantation Company was placed in receivership by Union Trust Company at Indianapolis on a complaint asserting solvency but claiming conditions prevent ongoing cultivation of its property. Charles L. Nordyke, owner of 11 shares, filed the suit.
Fair start in Boston and vicinity gives way to increasing cloudiness with showers Tuesday night and Wednesday. Fresh southerly winds accompany the unsettled pattern.
About fifty men were trapped by a gas explosion at Joseph Leiter's Zeigler mine in Benton Illinois. Four bodies found. estimates say thirty or more may be dead. The blast occurred as the mine was unused on Sunday allowing gas to accumulate. a steel cage was blown from a 500 foot shaft.
William Jor dan aged 16 of 478 East Eighth Street South Boston fell 90 feet into an elevator well at 240 Congress Street and plunged to the basement. He died at Emergency Hospital shortly after arrival from jaw and leg fractures and internal injuries. He worked for Nicholas & Stevenson at 212 Congress Street.
Fire struck Home Bros. Opera House block in Presque Isle shortly after midnight and nearly destroyed the building. By 1 40 a m firemen fought to save adjoining property as flames raged through the block owned by Home Bros.
In a grim act, Henry Noyes shoots his wife in their Hamlet Street home after waking her in bed and then fatally shoots himself in the cellar. Mrs. Noyes, 58, is hospitalized in serious condition. The couple’s daughter Alice Louise, 25, had died recently of Bright’s disease. Local neighbors reported a long history of grief and odd behavior. Police and a crowd swarmed the scene as the house was probed for clues. Continued on Page 10-Fifth Column.
