Mrs George O Jenkins of Whitman was elected regent of the D A R of Massachusetts at Steinert Hall by a narrow two vote margin after a feud over voter eligibility. The contest centered on restricting voting to delegates who attended the last national convention in Washington.

White Slave Bill Favored by Social Welfare Group

Representative Thomas J. Giblin of East Boston advances a bill to appoint a Governor empowered commission to thoroughly investigate white slave traffic. The measure, supported by prominent citizens and the Commonwealth clergy, would authorize public hearings, witness attendance, oaths, and cap spending at $10,000.

Roundabout 5100 Mile Wire Route Set After Disruptions

The Boston News Bureau reports that after a week of wire demoralization due to tornado and flood disturbances the American Telephone & Telegraph Company established a circuit from Boston to Duluth via New York Baltimore Lynchburg Atlanta Little Rock St Louis Burlington Chicago. The route added repeater stations and covered 5100 miles, more than twice the direct distance.

Two Sailors Lost After Ocean Collision Off California

British freighter Statesman reports collision near Point Reyes on March 29 with the three masted schooner John D. Spreckles. Six crew saved and two drowned. Spreckles found bottom up near San Francisco three days ago. fate of its crew previously unknown.

TWO MORE INDICTED IN ARSON TRUST

Two insurance men, J. I. Lebowski and Leo Deutch, were indicted by the grand jury probing the arson trust. Lebowski was part of a fire insurance adjusting firm and Deutch worked as an employee in the operation.

Washington April 2 Mrs Woodrow Wilson showed interest in government employees especially young women by visiting the Bureau of Engraving and Printing with Mrs Archibald Hopkins. She inspected departments and noted activities in making paper money and postage stamps.
