Insurgents Fire At Fort Held By Admin Forces

April 2. Insurgents fired on the blockhouse at Butsunaria while foreign troops garrisoned the post. The garrison answered with artillery and the insurgents withdrew. Turkish officials released two officers and forty soldiers captured at Malaxa on condition they be sent off the island.

Acres Burned In South Weymouth Woodland Loss

A fire this afternoon burned several acres of valuable woodland on Univ street in South Weymouth. The property belonged to George Holbrook and the blaze destroyed many cords of standing wood. Damages were estimated at seven hundred dollars.

Four-Alarm Fire Threatens East Boston Factories

A major blaze at the Ss. T. Manson & Co planing mill on Border street in East Boston caused extensive damage to a row of wooden and brick structures. Four alarms summoned help as authorities debated the need for a district fireboat. Two men were injured and several property owners criticized the department over response and equipment.
