Man rescues child then loses finger to coach wheels

At Court street last night Mr Charles Young of Somerville saved a little girl from an oncoming Charlestown coach but his right hand’s second finger was crushed. Dr Perry amputated the injured finger at the First Police Station. Young rested there overnight and will be moved to his home today. The report also notes a fatal railroad accident involving a 14 year old boy who fell under a car wheel after jumping from a train at Neponset. Other injuries include a man who broke his leg on Myrtle and Joy streets, another who sprained his knees at Water and Devonshire, and Miss Dow injured on Washington street when alighting a Red Line coach.
