Timothy Smith a Roxbury merchant and his wife Mrs Mary Ellen Brett Smith died within minutes of each other at 45 Elm Street Roxbury Their 60th wedding anniversary had been celebrated on February 4 The husband died of a cerebral hemorrhage first and the wife died soon after in the adjoining room after discovering his condition.
A rare Roxbury pair, Mr Smith aged 83 and his wife aged 80, were longtime devoted partners. Their sudden deaths on Easter morning recalled a calm, cherished union across Boston area, leaving neighbors in shock and mourning.
