Public park sale planned as city declines to pay taxes
Lebanon faces a public sale of Coulter park after the city refused to pay delinquent taxes or appropriate $300 yearly for park improvements. The deed-required perpetuity for park use and reversion to H. M. Coulter heirs sparked council opposition, deeming deed terms too rigid. Citizens raised $850 to aid the proposal, with outcomes awaiting future events.

A 23 year old man named J. E. Blackman, 2717 North Capitol Ave, was killed by an interurban car at Thirty eighth Street and Northwestern Avenue as it left the city near midnight. The Terre Haute polis Eastern Traction line car, under motorman Baward Fowler and conductor Robert Hayes, stopped near the Country Club grounds. The driver noted a man on the platform and speculated a gust of air might have drawn him under the wheels. the victim wore a purple suit and brown overcoat, stood about six feet ten, had dark brown hair, and bore the name Bisekman on a plate found with Blackman’s papers.
