Testimony on the shooting of Joseph H. Stout concludes as the defendant takes the stand to present his version. The defense says arguments will begin tomorrow morning in the murder trial.
The panel includes John Swails John Tarwilleger and several farmers and laborers as the court secures a jury Tuesday afternoon for the Clayton murder case. Twenty five talesmen examined. opening statements by Prosecutor Frank Baker allege first degree murder, claiming premeditation after Clayton confronted Stout fleeing from the scene. Dr. Dowd, Marion county deputy coroner, testified on the September 17 1913 autopsy at Saint Vincent’s hospital.
Lincoln Feb 21 The Nebraska Progressive stance argues against fusion with any major party. Judge Arthur G. Wray of York leads opposition to fusion and insists progressives form a liberal party, not joining Republicans or Democrats. The message emphasizes distinct progressive aims and the need for a new national liberal alignment.
Helena Feb 22 The state central committee of the Progressive party has gone on record against fusion with any party and supports entering a complete ticket from constable to congressman. Mrs Jennie Loose Allen who underwent an operation at Williams Hospital last week is improving.
A large crowd gathered in Noblesville to hear Ninth District Progressives discuss party unity. District Chairman William Holton Dye presided as Judge Waugh A G Rusick and G R Fertich spoke. A resolution backed Dye to support Edwin J Lee for state chairman and pledged full ticket nominations for fall. The Jagoti Hans invited Republicans and Democrats to join the new party.
Ohio Governor James McCox faces Progressive backlash as they deny a third ticket plan and criticize his control over the legislature. A.J. Garford and J.R. Garfield announce Progressive candidacies signaling a brewing party split ahead of the 1914 campaign. Mrs Sternberger returns home after visiting daughter in Columbus.

County Highway superintendent Francis Long has named twenty two assistant appointments with three remaining. The districts include H W Largh northwest of Thorntown and EL Culver northeast of Thorntown through Earl Braughard southwest of Elizaville. Most appointees oversee about twenty five miles of road, with 16 19 and 21 still unfilled, full list expected soon.

G C Hogers sat as special judge for Edward Robinson and Elizabeth Robinson of the Union Trist Co guardian of Annie Valentine of unsound mind. The court ruled for the defendant in a suit for 450 dollars claimed as due for services in caring for Mrs Valentine.
The Boone County Sunday School Association junior basketball league schedules two games at the high school gymnasium. Presbyterians vs Baptists and Adrilesian vs Chrighane play with admission set at 5 cents.
INDIANAPOLIS Feb 22 The Progressives emphatically reject a GOP proposal to divide nominations for county and state offices. Party chiefs say they will field a full ticket for county and state races, with former Progressive nominees from 192? likely returning. Indiana progressives plan active Marion County involvement in the fall campaign.
Lebanon city crews began snow removal in the business district after a blizzard. A force of men worked to clear sidewalks and streets, but delays occurred as the city engineer was out of town. The effort aimed to remove large snow piles quickly despite the setback.
The Ithaca Conservatory Concert Company of Ithaca New York will present a program at the First Baptist Church tonight featuring Ada Nobi piano James Campbell violin Miga Gladys Carman reader and May Wilcox soprano. The whale concert is under the ausplies of the B Y P Ui society with admission set at 26 cents.
