Panhandle County commissioners and State Highway Department engineers met to plan a 1956 1957 farm to market road program. They reviewed routes to meet traffic and population criteria and discussed gaps closing. Final road selections were deferred to the state engineer in Austin.

A 40 year old married man and World War II veteran was arrested by city police Friday night on a peeping tom charge. Chef of Police O R Me Kissa said the suspect had been suspected for about four years but was caught Friday. He is held in the Fann county Jail pending questioning and charge preparation.
Buster Cole was elected president for the 1940 56 term succeeding Wal lis S. Ober. The group elected officers including first vice president Newby second vice president Campbell third Norwood and secretary Burns with treasurer and other directors named. The club authorized spending for a new training facility scoreboard and plans to start football workouts on August 22 with emphasis on building a strong club before opening game. A balance of 9874 remained in the treasury for 1954 55 season. Cole outlined the club purpose as aiding the coaching staff without dictating actions and described it as a service organization.

State crews continue farm to market road work with new ponds drainage and widened beds. Contracts awarded to Caye Brothers of San Antonio for 362000 to reconstruct 25 miles in Fannin and Blount counties. US 60 widened between Bells and Whitewright with hot asphalt surface.
The VA Center hosts a Thursday night event to honor VAVS volunteers and new groups. Certificates for 100 300 and 500 hour milestones will be awarded along with commendations for notable service. The program features Chaplain Harrison Johns and entertainment by Paris Teen Agers and Five Notes from Perrin Air Force Base with refreshments to follow.
Sheriff Hoyt Ivey warned residents west of Bonham to stop dumping refuse along rural roads. He said some have butchered cattle waste and dumped it on the roadside and warned of arrest and prosecution. The sheriff cited state and county laws forbidding trash dumping and urged cleanup of messes.

A total of 46 instruments for right-of-way for the Bartley Woods to Bugtussle farm to market road, spanning 82 miles, were received Saturday by Judge Chotce Moore from the State Highway Department. The packets include four easements, 17 channel easements, and 25 right-of-way feds, and will go to Commissioner Tom Lachridge to secure signatures of property owners along the route.
