Bonham plans to take over official operation of its new 250000 dollar sewer disposal plant Friday if no issues arise in the next 24 hours. The facility has run on a test basis for two weeks with H Gillis & Co of Daingerfield as operator and will receive an automatic grit remover once parts arrive.

San Antonio reporter says Army Cpl Chaude Batchelor asks Defense Department to grant release from a 20 year sentence for collaborating with the Communists while a prisoner in Korea. Attorney Joel Westbrook cites President Wilson’s remarks about returned flyers. Batchelor, from Kermit Texas, was convicted at Fort Sam Houston last Sept 30 and is serving at Fort Leavenworth.
Five men held in Grayson county jail confessed to burglaries across eight North Texas counties. Investigators from Grayson, Texas Rangers, and Dallas authorities questioned them in Sherman after arrests in Dallas Fort Worth and Sherman. Cleared cases include Ravenna’s Don Mlair Grocery and Marl Cain filling station and Savoy’s Bomar store. Investigators planned to question about unsolved Trenton and Randolph cases.
Fannin County wheat farmers will vote Saturday in four polling places Bonham Windom Honey Grove and Trenton to decide on marketing quotas for the 1956 crop. Eligible voters include farmers with more than 35 acres and their wives.
State Sergeant Max N. Hickfang, husband of Patricia A. Hickfang of Portland Oregon, arrives at Landsberg Air Force Base in southern Germany to join the T3Slst Asia Base Squadron. He previously served at Memphis Tyson Airport Knoxville Tennessee. The base near Munich hosts training for foreign pilots under the Military Defense Assistance Program.
Rain swept across Fannin County on Wednesday afternoon with heavy showers from Trenton to Whitewright and lighter rain east to Bonham. Trenton reported 1.48 inches in under an hour, with Savoy Bells and Whitewright near an inch, and Bonham about 0.30 inch. No ground touch from a reported funnel near Bonham.
Heavy thunderstorms damaged crops and buildings in the Paria area of northeast Texas, producing up to unofficial 3.7 inches of rain in a 40 minute storm. More widely scattered storms were forecast for Thursday and a severe storm was noted on the BRAINS Page.
A suit to contest the Honey Grove ISD trustee election held April 2 was dismissed on motion in Sixth District Court. Plaintiffs James P. Gant M. G. Neeley and others faced dismissal after attorney G O Butler filed a motion at the plaintiffs' cost. The notice of intention to contest had been filed in May and hearing set for June 22.
