Ex-Convict shoots pastor after hitchhiking talk
Edward Leon Williams, 26, an ex-convict, confessed to fatally shooting Rev. Tommie Robert Cooke, assistant pastor of Glenwood Baptist in Tulsa, after forcing him to drive and then discarding the body on a rural road near Taft Muskogee county. Cooke had talked with Williams about Christianity during the ride. Williams was captured in Taft after a bus ride and linked to previous robberies and burglaries in Tulsa Fort Smith and Talihina.
