The Fa orite says it will gladly correct any erroneous reflection upon character standing or reputation of any person firm or corporation found in its columns once the matter is brought to the publishers attention.
The Cumberland Presbyterian presbyteries of Bonham and Red River are consolidated into the Presbytery of Paris by the reunified general assembly at Columbus. The Paris presbytery will convene July 2 at Dr Manton's church in Paris with 25 ministers and elders from 50 churches, led by Rev J S Groves of Honey Grove.
Washington reports that the 1908 militia reform law requires all states to organize their militias within five years under federal standards. General Robert Oliver says Texas has not reported progress, risking loss of state militia funding of 2,009,000 dollars if noncompliance continues.
St Louis astronomer Rev R Hicks reports the largest sun spot seen in years on the sun’s east line. he warns a belt of electric storms and high winds may reach the United States between Wednesday and Friday with further activity about twelve days later. He says the spot is growing and may reappear in a larger or smaller state after twelve days.
The Bonham City ordinance requires citizens who fail to pay prior poll taxes to work on streets at one dollar per day until taxes penalties and costs are discharged. Notices issued by the City Marshal and Street Commissioner oversee assignment and enforcement with fines up to ten dollars for noncompliance and allowances for substitutes under supervision.
A Jamaica letter extols Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for a troublesome cough and mentions obtaining another bottle. A Texas county court issues a four week citation to J W Stephens in a debt case against Planters National Bank of Honey Grove for 475 75 with 10 percent interest and attorney fees, plus sale notice and a candy ad for Bon Ham.
Constantine Chapter No 209 Order of Eastern Star held a callal meeting Saturday night initiating three candidates. After the work patrons enjoyed refreshments. Mesdamea M Cowden and A R Caldwell, soon to leave Bonham, were each presented with a handsome gift by members in appreciation.
Yesterday morning a fire alarm summoned the department to a slight fire in a colored man’s house on East 5th Street. The blaze was extinguished before firefighters arrived. Also, cards announce the June 26 marriage of Nisa Wilma Bailey of Royse to William Overton Barton of C Commerce at the Royse Baptist Church. Mise Bailey visited Bonham and has many local friends. The postponed First Presbyterian picnic will be held at Boyd's pool. The crowd will assemble at the church at 8 30 this morning.
