A missing chain from a roadside incident between Bells and Bonham is sought by a Bonham resident. The note asks the finder to return the chain to a Bonham garage or to J. W. Russell and promises a reward.
United Press reports on Baker proposing sixteen coastal aerial defense stations to deter submarine and air attacks. Each station costs about one million dollars with thirteen along the Atlantic coast, sites chosen and ready. Construction could begin within six weeks after funds are available.
Haig reports an attempted raid south of Morlancourt last night was repulsed with enemy losses. Near Boyelles a hostile party rushed a post yesterday afternoon and two of our men are missing.

American Marines repulsed two German attacks on the Marne front and then struck German positions. They killed seven, captured one, and recovered a machine gun after overpowering a Hun patrol and taking the gun.
A World War I report says British airmen destroyed 283 planes and downed 336 German aircraft in under three weeks ending June 2. The period also saw 526 tons of high explosives dropped behind enemy lines as aerial combat intensified.
A 30 man American patrol penetrated the German third line in the Luneville area in France. They faced about 200 enemy troops, using grenades bayonets and bullets in a twenty minute clash that caused heavy losses to the Germans while the American unit suffered only light casualties.

Mr and Mrs Geo C May report their son James May has arrived in France. He left hometown with troops as an early volunteer and served at Camp Bowie before six weeks ago transferring to Camp Mills New Jersey. He was one of six selected from his company for overseas duty and his parents learned of his deployment only upon receiving his letter.
