Bonham postoffice reports the 1939 Christmas mail volume as the heaviest in years. Postal officials note increases in first and third class mail and a surge in packages. Christmas mail arriving Sunday or Monday will be delivered to consignees, but the office will not offer window delivery or local and rural carrier service on Monday. Extra clerks were added to handle the rush.
In behalf of the firemen and all connected, the organization thanks everyone who assisted the annual banquet for the firemen held December 21 at the Golf Club. It was a tremendous success and the group pledges ready service day or night. Contributing firms include First National Bank Bonham, Bonham State Bank, Texas Power & Light Co, and several local merchants and businesses.
Billie Parsons son of Mr and Mrs Frank Parsons received cuts and lacerations when struck by a truck at the corner of North Main and West Fifth last night. After treatment at Allen Memorial Hospital he returned home not thought to be in serious condition. McKee Crick drove the truck.
