High School Girls Basketball League of Texas announces entrants in the girls Marketball tournament and requires a $3 entrance fee paid by June 6 1940. Baxter Edwards of Miller Grove district director notes district meets by February 3 and a She District Play-off planned for February 15 16 in Hopkins or Hunt county.
Bailey and Gober split a Tuesday night doubleheader as Bailey boys comeback to win 42 22 and Bailey girls upset Gober 20 10. Lefty Oates led Bailey with 12 points, while Monetta Robinson topped Bailey girls with 10 and Dot Smith led Gober with eight.
G A Holland former Weatherford mayor showed at a Mineral Wells hobby show two hand woven suits and a dozen towels made on an old loom. He also exhibited a rattlesnake fang necklace and rattlesnake bead items, highlighting weaving among his hobbies.
Jingle bells and holiday greetings mark Parker Grove events. A Sunday School and school combination program plus a tree lighting are slated for Friday night December 22. Community members, including James Palmore and the Wright, Garner, Hall, Pierce, and Winkler families, are noted in local social visits.
