Santa Claus is slated to visit the Bonham State Bank every Friday before Christmas from 5 to 6 p.m. and greet children and families in town.
Funeral services were announced for country singer and actor Bill Boyd 67 who died after a stroke in 1973. The Dallas based artist recorded 300 songs and appeared in six World War II era films, with hits including Over the Waves The Lone Star Rag and Under the Double Eagle. He is survived by his wife Mildred, two daughters in Houston and League City and two brothers.
A full grown Brahman bull rampaged through the Husband Brothers Packing Co area and into the main mail loading dock at Oklahoma City's Post Office. Workers chased the animal as it jumped onto the dock before it was shot and hauled to a packing house.

A community meeting is planned for 6 30 p m Tuesday December 13 in the L H Rather Junior High auditorium to discuss the 400000 school bond. Bonham ISD voters go to the polls December 15 to decide on the new building bonds. Supt Joe Campbell says it will be informational with a Q A session.
Washington reports a 0.7 percent jump in the Labor Department Wholesale Price Index for November, the second straight large monthly gain. The rise, led by farm and foods and by processed foods and feeds, saw a 3 percent and 1.7 percent increase, with the index at 197 from a 1967 base of 100. Industrial and finished goods increased 0.4 percent, easing from prior months.
District Attorney John Hannah said the federal probe into alleged illegal activities in Fannin County will continue in January when the federal grand jury reconvenes. The December grand jury has been released for the month. More than 86 residents testified last month before the grand jury recessed due to pending trials. Federal attorneys will review the evidence and decide whether to call additional witnesses.

A man, a woman and two children were arrested for shoplifting at Bonham stores Safeway and Wal Mart about noon Wednesday. Items valued at 9845 were recovered. the suspects posted bond and were freed after fines.

Hoover indicated no foreign or domestic conspiracy evidence by May 1964, though the files reveal extensive interviews and theories, including Marina Oswald's reflections and agent memos noting Oswald's frantic denials.
Donald Keith Stephens and Rebecca Ann Stephens of Leonard faced possession charges that were downgraded from a third degree felony to a Class A misdemeanor after officials determined the seized amount was 3.7 ounces. The initial report overstated the weight as over four ounces.
Three Louisiana youths from New Iberia died in a Beaumont apartment fire at Four Oaks. Victims Louis Peltier 18 Kyle L Landry 18 and John R Olmsted 19 died from smoke inhalation and heat after being trapped in their rooms near a hallway fire that began around 2 a.m. One injured man was treated, another hospitalized, condition undisclosed. Twenty three units damaged mainly downstairs and some upstairs by smoke and water.
Jordan's King Hussein arrived in Cairo on a mission to mend rifts with hard line Arab states after Sadat's peace push with Israel. An estimated one million Egyptians cheered Sadat, who warned imposters and pygmies and urged direct talks with Israel. The Cairo talks with Sadat and Hussein aim to heal Arab divisions before next week's meetings with Syria opposing the policy.
Former Oklahoma governor David Hall won’t be home for Christmas as the UPI report notes a parole grant by the U S Parole Commission effective May 22 1978 allowing 18 months of a three year sentence for federal extortion and bribery. Hall gave no public comment from a Safford Arizona prison camp while his attorney in Oklahoma City declined to speak for at least a week. His mother Dorothy Hall voiced disappointment but said she remains proud of his strength and compassion for prisoners noting her changed view on inmate treatment.
