Red Warriors Earn All-District Honors in 5-AA Grid

Last Educational Meeting Tonight In Bonham

Cotton farmers in Fannin county, part of a South wide referendum on 1940 marketing quotas, will vote Saturday December 9 1939 at 32 polling places. County agents and local officials will lead the evening briefing at 7 pm in the district courtroom.

Britain urged not to interfere with American rights in wartime shipment

Secretary Cordell Hull notified Britain that interference with US shipments during the blockade would violate international law. The note urged the British government to refrain from disrupting the legitimate trade of American nationals and to respect all rights in America. In Texas, Fannin county reported $48 023 18 in state and county tax collections for November, down from October but up on year, aided by discounts and late payments. Tax collector W H Harper noted November benefited from three percent state tax discounts and a two percent state tax discount with net payments.

Spiritual Grace Emphasized by Rev Harmon for PTA

Rev W O Harmon urged spiritual and religious education at the Duncan PTA meeting. He warned against educating the head without the heart and noted the church as higher education while praising social grace. The Senate in Montevideo approved a bill for Uruguay to withdraw immediately from the League of Nations except for Geneva based technical bodies like the International Labour Office. The session was attended by Foreign Minister Alberta Guan.

Two Charged In Death Of Aged Blue Ridge Woman

McKinney Texas December 8 A Sprouse 52 a farmer and Mrs Alpha Tingle 32 a widow and mother of six were charged with the murder of Sprouse s aged wife Mrs Sprouse died November 26 at her home in the Blue Ridge community An autopsy was performed on the exhumed body from Stony Point cemetery viscera sent to the state safety laboratory for examination They were held in the Collin county jail without bond Neighbors said the pair had been friendly for months.

38 AAA Checks Bring Total To 120 069 For 1939 AAA

Thirty eight benefit payment checks totaling 3269.70 were received by the Fannin county AAA office Friday raising the yearly total to 1417 checks and 120060.11 dollars. Checks continue to arrive daily as farmers receive payments for soil conservation and compliance with the 1939 AAA program.

Minute details for the Cotton Carnival parade and coronation are being finalized.
