The council met with five members and approved several allowances for street work and supplies. They considered a Cherry street gravel ban proposal, retained A J Carlyle as quarantine officer, ordered new walks at Washington and Jefferson parks, and accepted J W Freeman’s gravel bid for multiple streets.

A fine sorrel road horse named Dick is missing from the Dhrett livery stable since Friday evening. A tall young man about 23, wearing a brown coat and stiff hat, from Camden, rented a rig to meet a wife arriving from Lima Ohio. Giehrett notified authorities and has had no word on the rig by Saturday.
The law does not allow extensions for tax payment. All taxes must be paid on or before November 6 1893. Those paying by list must submit lists and pay before that day. The Ossian News reports Hatfield's store reopened at 9:30 AM on Wednesday under W. M. Hatfield. Creditors surrendered notes for 40 percent of the old firm’s amount and bondsmen totaling nearly 100000 pledged, with Hatfield securing the bond by mortgage on all his property held by George W. Glass.

The music committee selects Miss Lela Beil daughter of Jno E Beil to play the new pipe organ. Her training includes De Pauw Music School where she specialized in the organ and earned praise from the faculty dean for competence.
In the estate of Israel First deceased the Wells Circuit Court Sept term 1893. John Wasson administrator has filed final account and vouchers for examination on Nov 8 1893 at Bluffton Indiana. Boehmer R L Clark and R B Clark made a business trip to Huntington Saturday. The dark horse with a light mane and tail was on our streets Sunday evening. Eli Stinson and family of Chester township were in the neighborhood Sabbath. Huffman and Minear and their lady friends attended the one and only fair at Huntington Saturday. Clem Brinneman and family of Mt Zion visited in north Boehmer Sunday. John W Ratliff wife and daughter of Markle were guests of Grand Ma Clark and family last Sunday. Robert Thompson and wife returned Saturday night from a week's visit at the Worlds Fair. Someone distributed brush over a wheat field last week. Some people get very smart but cow trouble brings back interest. William Clanin is laid up with a bad cut foot and will use crutches for some time. James M Jones provides steam power for the hay bailer for Ed Mossburg after threshing. George Thompson went to the Worlds Fair last Saturday and back home quickly.
