Last Saturday evening three miles south of the city ten year old Bessie Ashbaucher fell from a wagon during a runaway and was killed instantly. Her brother was saved by clinging to the wagon. The hired man driving the wagon managed to stop the team after help arrived. Bessie’s funeral was held Monday at the Reformed church with many in attendance. The girl was a bright, amiable child and deeply mourned by family and friends. Also reported: the Rock Creek ditch dredge crossing Clover Leaf right of way at Liberty Center drew large crowds, with an estimated two thousand spectators.
