Laborer McFerren Held After Parcel of Disturbances Near Factory
James McFerren, a lone laborer living in a Carroll woods shanty near the Astra-Glycern factory north of the city, was detained by Sheriff Hudson on Wednesday night. Authorities say he is deranged and may be sent to an asylum after causing a scare by acting near a Nitro-Elycerin factory switch and stoning oil pumps. The broken lock averted a potential disaster to the 8:47 northbound passenger train.
