Indiana Assembly Run by Republican Leaders Faces Democratic Silence
Indianapolis February 18 The current Indiana General Assembly is shown as a tightly controlled Republican machine with Democratic members silenced. The piece notes bills hijacked by majority leaders, notably Fortune’s railroad bill eclipsed by Wolcott’s commission idea, and criticizes lawmakers for unpreparedness and wasted time. It lists pending measures likely to pass, including county officer salary revisions and various railroad and tax bills benefiting party interests.
