At 1 20 Friday afternoon Chairman J H C Smith convened the Democratic county committee to elect a chairman secretary and treasurer for the coming campaign. Harry Kirkwood presided as temp chairman while Walter Snyder nominated Eichhorn and M A Stout and J H C Smith nominated themselves, votes 17 to 9 in Eichhorn favor, unanimous after a Sturgis motion. Eichhorn will lead with Stout as secretary and Sturgis as treasurer, pledging cooperation and victory efforts, followed by McDowell outlining Jefferson League work and precinct committeemen serving as precinct presidents. 26 of 31 delegates attended.

A R Snedden Dies After Illness in Bluffton
A R Snedden died last Thursday night after a brief illness described as a wasting away of red blood cells. He had lived in Bluffton for years, worked in the grocery business, and was active in the Methodist Church and Knights of Pythias. Born June 27, 1852 in McKeesport, he married Jennie Blair in 1873 and leaves a daughter, Mrs Will Gatelius, of Bluffton. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Methodist Church with Rev L A Beeks and the Knights of Pythias officiating.
