Within twenty four hours Lake Erie trains faced severe blizzards. A 6 30 pm arrival reached at 1 06 am after battling five to eight foot sand filled cuts north of Sheldon. Northbound and southbound services ran late as crews shoveled through drifts, engines iced over, speeds limited, and conductors logged mounting delays.
Despite severe weather and high water, Indiana reported 307 wells completed in January producing 4 681 barrels, with 37 dry holes. Ohio fields totaled 348 wells and 4 300 barrels. Kansas attracts attention as operators flood the drill sites, with high labor pay and rising confidence. a new pipeline to refineries promises a bigger boom and more robust oil activity. The Hartford City case involves a fraud check, with a bench warrant issued, but weather may delay officers and Frank remains at home. Hamilton believes the case has merit and that Hamilton fears pursuit.
Inventors propose a new device for motormen on interurban lines to keep the trolley wheel on the wire. If the wheel slips, spirally grooved rollers feed the wire back onto the wheel, with conical guides and rocking frames to avoid interference.
