Christmas was celebrated with the usual festivities despite poor weather. Sun day Schools across denominations held programs and treats, with cantatas, Santa Claus appearances, and festive displays drawing packed houses and holiday cheer.
A community turkey roast at Jacob Leist’s home west of Reiffnburg drew about forty attendees including J. B. Evans and family B. F. and family Joseph Valentine and family James Jarrett and family and many young people. The event featured a generous dinner and social time with a nearby exchange noting farmers’ contentment and political influence of farmer sons.

The Rockcreek township teachers gathered at Schoolhouse No 7 on December 16 1893 for a full morning of talks. Burke and Leight discussion contrasted with Lord North policies, plus Method and respiration topics. A hearty meal followed and plans were made to reconvene in four weeks at No 2.

East Wednesday night Sixbey’s opera houses hosted Down by the Sea under High auspices. The two week effort showcased a strong cast led by Abner Raymond and Stella Vaughn with Prof. Hitchcock and Mrs. Gale among others. Net receipts of 56.85 will fund books and clothing for city children.
