Stella Bowen born September 22 1883 on a Wells County Indiana farm married Elwood Ratliff January 17 1903 and lived on West Wiley avenue. After a long consumption illness she died at 2 20 Thursday morning aged 20 years two months twenty six days leaving a husband and father. Funeral held Saturday at 10 in Epworth Chapel conducted by James Isher.

On December 7 1903 Poneto Wells County Indiana enacted an ordinance prohibiting selling or giving liquor within two miles of the town without paying 150 dollars to the town treasurer for a one year license, plus a one dollar clerk fee. Penalties range from 10 to 50 dollars plus costs. Repeals conflicting ordinances.
