Six more COVID related deaths reported in W Va region
The West Virginia DHHR records six more deaths linked to COVID-19 in the region, including a 37 year old Mercer County woman and an 80 year old Mercer County man. Across the state 27 new deaths were recorded, with four in Mercer and two in McDowell counties. Deaths in Mercer include 73 year old female and 83 year old male, plus a 70 year old and a 72 year old McDowell County resident. Total COVID-19 deaths in the state reach 166 to date.

Save Our Care funds to flow to West Virginia hospitals
West Virginia hospitals will receive about 17 million dollars in the first phase of Save Our Care funding next week to cover extra COVID Delta surge costs. DHHS Secretary Bill Crouch said the total including September costs will reach around 35 million, based on hospital reports for August.
