House Repeals Withholding Law With Ruckelshaus Push
Washington AP reports the House, after heavy banking industry lobbying, voted 382 to 41 to repeal the 1982 law requiring income taxes be withheld from interest and dividends. The margin could overcome a presidential veto as the issue moves to the Senate where earlier action delayed the matter to 1987 if pursued.
