Vintage 78 rpm records turn up in Glenwood basement

Bill Duff, a 71 year old retiree, collects and sells unplayed 78 rpm records from Mrs. Jason's former Bluefield Music Company stash. The collection spans dozens of country artists and Big Band era stars with Decca Columbia and RCA Victor labels. Duff bought about 7,500 records, selling some for 50 cents and 2 dollars each to collectors in Texas Tennessee and Canada.

Park blaze in Shenandoah grows to 2000 acres

Reward offer remains in case of Naomi Cloud

A $15,000 reward offered by the late David Cloud’s children for Naomi Cloud’s arrest remains active. They, along with Richard Cloud and other relatives, continue funding the reward and asking for information on her whereabouts. Public school’s own Lou Gehrig Clyde Cook stays apart

Clyde Chris Cook of Oceana High School in Wyoming County attends every possible school day from kindergarten through May 24, despite snowstorms and sinus troubles. The 18 year old senior has completed about 2,340 days of school, surpassing Gehrigs major league streak. Local bus routes failed in storms yet he kept walking three miles from Matheny to Oceana, earning bets from classmates as his mother notes. The final day nears and the effort has become a citywide talking point.

Many flood victims still lacking homes in West Virginia

Six months after the November floods hit 29 counties, 456 families live in FEMA mobile homes and 1,086 in private rentals at FEMA expense. Many faces struggle to find affordable land, with flat parcels scarce and pricey. SBA has approved loans but disbursed only 10 percent of 59.2 million. In Parsons, not a single SBA loan has been approved and many business owners have been turned down.

Hardship in Hardy County flood aid disputes
