Mc Dowell County Post No 8 of the American Legion plans the next district meeting March 31 at the Memorial Building in Welch. Legioneers from Kermont will run the event and Gary and War posts are invited. The last session was held at North Fork and more meetings are planned across the county.

Robert Allen a 35 year old Negro miner from Landgraff died mysteriously near midnight at work in the mines His body was found later by Clay miners believed to have suffered a heart attack He had begun work at 6 30 p m and was seen alive at 11 36 p m Ventilation noted as a possible factor in the death An autopsy was performed Tuesday night to determine the cause of death. Aven went into the mines about 6 30 to work unto midnight.
