NASA Mars Pathfinder poised for first US landing since 1976
NASA aims to touch down at Ares Vallis site on July 4 with Pathfinder and the Sojourner rover. If successful, it would mark the first Mars landing since Viking 1 in 1976 and kick off a new era of cost efficient exploration paired with future Mars orbiters and sample-return plans.
