Mrs. Carr entertained a few friends on North Street Tuesday afternoon in honor of Mrs. W. B. Honaker of Jumtington, guest of Mrs. P. D. Bratton, and Mrs. Sem David of Stonega, guest of Mrs. R. Goodson. Tempting refreshments were served.
Hadassah Bluectield held its last meeting of the year at Mrs. H. Gilbert s home. Mrs. S. Shaman reported a year s work. Officers elected for 1936 37 include Mrs. Henry Rodelt president Mrs. A Effron vice president Mrs. M Auerlinch secretary and Mrs Rose Katz treasurer. Milk bag fund and infant welfare drive noted. Baltimore Hadassah luncheon discussed. Program featured Evelyn Gilbert, piano, and vocal selections by Miss Blanche Armantrout and Henry Fortune. Refreshments followed. First 1936 37 meeting set for September at Mrs. S. Shaman s home with Mrs. J. Blank program chair.
From Cerop Shaw-Mi-Del-Ece near Lewisburg seven girls and a man have returned from a summer camp run by Freéaby sterian Intermediate. They are Batty Brooks Sally Anna Evens Barbara Ann Williams Amanda Lee Sarver Phyilie Sluss Margaret Stuart Helen Hale and William Walters.
Bluefield Quota club's weekly luncheon featured Mrs. Morita of the Federal Housing Administration West Virginia as principal speaker on modernizing old homes and improving conveniences. Milas Irene Norris of the Vivena Art studios provided readings and guests from Charleston and Colorado Springs attended the meeting.
Mr and Mrs HV Troutman entertained with an attractive dinner party at their Frederick Betfast home Monday evening, complimenting Mr and Mrs E A Woodyard of Minespoke, Minnesota, a recently married couple visiting relatives here. Ten were served, with several other activities noted.
The Woodyard couple, hosted by Mrs Troutman, plan to leave today for their home after a weeklong visit. The bridegroom is noted as Mr Woodyard's nephew, tying family ties to the host.
The W C T U held a meeting at the home of Mrs W C Ware on Guex Street with Mrs F W Udy presiding. The program included exhibits on alcohol education and a discussion on whiskey advertising and prohibition, plus reports from officers and plans to exhibit at the Mercer County fair.
The Thirteen club will meet at 7 30 this evening with Miss Mary Kahle on Jefferson Street. Attendance is important as officers will be elected. The nominating committee, appointed at the last meeting, met Monday at Bernard Cunningham's Leatherwood Road home to name candidates.
Today events announce a GI A meeting at Moosehall with W Hitt inspector present and full attendance requested. Lunch at Grace Methodist church at 13 30. The Harry Live Wire 4-H group meets at 1 at Mrs B E Davidson’s Bramwell road home to plan for camp.
The Junior Philathea class of First Baptist plans a planting event Tuesday at 6 in Blue Field village. Mrs Richard Bowman and Mrs Fimo Agee lead the recent contest efforts while Mrs Clyde Stowers and Miss Nella Wella head the Ning side entertainment program.
New arrival William Jones is welcomed by Mr and Mrs Robert C Buchanan at 397 Lavgan Street. Mrs Lucile Wilson Parkne and Miss Jennie Johnston depart Tuesday with the Oklahoma University touring party for a California Canada and Mexico trip lasting about eight weeks visiting numerous points en route. The local tourist party connects with others in Chicago.
W C Easley in charge of the local FHA office and Mrs Easley hosted FHA members at their College Avenue home Tuesday evening. Guests included Ruth Lindsey secretary to Easley and Mrs A B Morris Parkersburg field representative with J A Cruise, manager of financial banking relations. W M Flournoy arrived in Bluefield to spend days with local cities force. Mrs Morris spoke at Bluefield Garden Club and later at Appalachian Electric Power Co offices. She addressed Drusfield Quota Club and Princeton Woman's Club engagements, with talks planned at Athens and Parkersburg home celebration.
The Bluefeld Quota club board of directors will hold an important meeting Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the Y W C A quarters on Federal street.
Interest centers on the eighteenth championship of the Women’s West Virginia Golf Association slated July 15 at The Greenbrier White Sulphur Springs. Officers include Mrs. Lord Rogers president Mrs H J Lockhart vice president and Miss Kath ating Burnelde secretary treasurer.
The Men's Service club of the First Christian church invites all men from the Sunday School and church to its annual picnic on Friday evening June 8. Transportation will be provided to those without cars. The event at Godgey's camp on Wolf creek near Rocky Gap will feature games and a program for the families.

The GSA will meet this morning at 10 30 at the hall for inspection. A luncheon will be served at Grace Methodist Church, located at 190.
Washington A taking swift advantage of the record peacetime naval appropriation approved yesterday by the president Secretary Swanson announced bids would be opened August 7 for the construction of 19 of the 24 war ships authorized by the measure. At the same time the secretary
Navy officials discussed how many ships should be replaced under the Washington accord but warned no final decision until other powers act. Sentiment in the Navy Department shifted toward replacement over modernizing obsolete treaty vessels. Secretary Swanani said the U S does not want to spark a build ing race and would not necessarily match rival shipbuilding.
Washington reports indicate the Civilian Conservation Corps plan to reach 600000 members may fall short under current rules. Eligibility is limited to single men 18 to 28 and war veterans of any age. Officials cite April replacement enlistments at 106000, relief-family eligibility, and seasonal work reducing available labor as key factors.
The Bluefield Clover Club will host its annual summer dance on Wednesday, July 2, at the Bluefield Country Club. About 300 guests are expected with 250 invitations issued to social leaders within a 200 mile radius. Music by Marty Schramm and his orchestra will accompany elaborate decorations and refreshments. Officers include President W L Sexton Jr and Treasurer W Lane Nesb, with a committee chaired by Frank Pierce and others.
