Five bodies and a list of eighteen missing persons are recovered after the Eagle Park dock collapse near Buffalo. Officials expect the death toll to reach about thirty as divers recover remains from the Niagara river and identify casualties from the Court Amherst Lodge outing.
Fifty feet of an excursion dock at Island Park collapsed into the Niagara River. By nightfall seventeen bodies were recovered and identified, with at least eleven others unaccounted for and believed to have been at the park.
Cleveland June 24 Theodore Roosevelt announced he will form a new party from the ground up after a conference with lieutenants. He left for New York and said there must be no compromise and rejected any Republican nomination for president. Roosevelt cited southern delegates offering a nomination to defeat Taft and would not accept a ticket with fraudulent delegates voting.
Philadelphia June 24 Henry M Arnold special assistant attorney general in charge of the sugar weighing investigation has compelled sugar refineries to pay $700000 to the government. Spreckels Sugar Refining Company $350000 W J McCahan Sugar Refining Company $250000 and the Franklin Sugar Refining Company $100000 are named in the Justice Department statement.
Washington June 24 Paul Hamilton an instructor at the United States army aviation school College Park Maryland was fatally injured this evening in an aeroplane accident. He was flying alone in a biplane at about 100 feet when the aircraft suddenly fell to the ground and was smashed to pieces. The aviator was pinned beneath the wreckage.
Powell Clayton of Arkansas named temporary chairman when the committee met in executive session. Alvah H. Martin of Virginia named temporary secretary. A nine member panel named to confer with Taft in Washington on naming the chairman and campaign conduct.
West Virginia expects local rains Tuesday with a fair Wednesday. Virginia shows local showers Tuesday with probable Wednesday, light to moderate east and southeast winds.
Ohio produced 30,759,986 short tons of coal in 1911 valued at $31,810,123, down 10 percent from 1910. Machine mined coal rose to 86.5 percent of output with 1,536 machines. Alabama produced 15,018,965 tons valued at $19,077,489, down 6.8 percent total with coke down 29 percent but prices up to 1.27 per ton.
Chicago reports a $25,000 alienation suit by John C. Henning against Clarence Funk to clear a months long mystery. Funk, manager of International Harvester, is alleged to have influenced the Lorimer inquiry and the case follows his sensational charge against Edward Hines in a political bribery context.
Henninge and his wife, hired in small posts at a Chicago hotel, left the city after receiving salt. They are believed to be wintering at a costly southern resort. Mr. Funk denies any knowledge of Henning or his wife from the outset.
Gaynor with five hundred supporters leaves New York for Baltimore in a special train and arrives at 2 15 this afternoon. Tammany hosts ride four special trains while Cook County delegations from Chicago depart after a brief stop en route to Baltimore.

Parker won 31 votes while Ollie James of Kentucky and Senator James O'Gorman of New York received 20 and 2 respectively. The Norwegian steamer Madeirenze arrived from Kingston carrying Cavinin Chas FB and six seamen from the schooner Boesner. They were abandoned off Hatteras and later towed to New York by destroyer Sepeca.

In Mayfield Kentucky on June 24 Alvin Wheeler a tobacco planter was mortally wounded by Ru fus Billington. Wheeler's son then shot Billington. Billington was jailed. The two men had clashed over efforts to curb liquor traffic in the area.
Clarence T Boykin is elected secretary of the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce taking over from T B Breen. He vows prodigious efforts to build Bluefield with chamber unity and outside attention while guiding plans with board and members.
Bishop Luccock who led Hyde Park Methodist Church in Kansas City has left farewell to his flock and will depart for Helena Montana to oversee the Montana Idaho and Dakotas conference as he begins his duties as bishop.
