House GOP targets home-heating aid and summer jobs
AP reporting that House Republicans proposed cutting federally funded summer work programs for youth and home heating assistance for low income families. The plan, approved 8-4 by the Appropriations subcommittee, also trims job training and school curriculum funding and tightens worker safety regulation, bilingual education, and education hiring.
