Price rebound continues on Wall Street after Monday gains
Prices rose on Tuesday continuing a rebound that started Monday afternoon. The Dow ended down 4.55, erasing most losses as bargain buyers pushed shares higher. Traders remained nervous about the economy, earnings, and election while gains abroad supported US markets. The Nikkei rose 1.17 percent, and London’s FTSE gained 10.3 points as volume reached 189.17 million on the NYSE.

Grant awarded for emergency reclamation in Virginia
A $300,000 grant for emergency reclamation at abandoned coal mines in Virginia was announced by Congressman Rick Boucher. The U S Department of Interior Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement funds Virginia AML program for fiscal year 1992 projects to prevent slides floods and subsidence threatening homes and roads. Buchanan County has had four emergency AML projects since 1989 including Left Fork Home Creek and Jack's Creek landslides.
