In Tay Ninh province near Cambodia, six Viet Cong and North Vietnamese attacks hit the city and satellite villages. A 300 man force broke through a sector as 1,000 civilians fled. U S casualty totals rose with 335 Americans killed that week and overall 13,427 since 1961.
Gov. Nelson Rockefeller presses for aid as Brazilian leaders seek $165 million for public works and $230 million for agriculture health and education. Paraguay’s Stroessner seeks $115 million in long term loans for roads railways and health improvements amid security precautions and tour plan changes.
Eddie Joe Hickman, 9, of Columbus Ohio, required 200 stitches to the head after a neighbor's German shepherd attacked him while he walked in a field near Beau ty Kentucky. Three neighbors restrained the dog. it was later killed. Doctors report half his scalp torn away and skin grafts used. He is listed in satisfactory condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
A preliminary hearing for Roger and Susie Bailey on murder charges tied to the June 8 deaths of their parents and siblings is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 30 before Justice of the Peace A. L. Rothwell. The case could bind them over to the July 14 Wood County Grand Jury meeting.
