Virginia Tech student charged after drunken driving crash injures eight
Blacksburg authorities say Mary Elizabeth Bowen 20 of Winchester swerved off Main Street just after 2 am sending text messages and crashing into a sidewalk tree and a restaurant corner. Eight people were injured, six to Montgomery Regional Hospital and two to Carilton New River Valley Medical Center. Bowen had a 0.20 blood alcohol content.
