Cigarette blamed for Mercer Street apartment fire
Princeton fire officials concluded a cigarette started a mattress blaze in a Van Court building apartment on Mercer Street. Tenant Karin Christian, 26, admitted causing the fire and suffered first and second degree burns while a firefighter was cut during effort. The blaze damaged a fourth floor unit. this is the building’s second fire this year following a January child played with matches incident elsewhere in the same building.
