Father son lead Army unit four decades apart
Lt. Col. Patrick Harkins commands the Iron Rakkasans 3rd Battalion at Fort Campbell while his father, retired Col. Bob Harkins, led the same unit in Vietnam during Hamburger Hill. The two generations share a rare cross era leadership of the regiment, with Patrick serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and both men aiding current soldiers through reunions and veteran support.
