Ring Returns After Sixteen Years At Jewell Valley Dam
In Grundy Virginia Bob Bragg, once a Whitewood High student who lost a class ring at the Jewell Valley dam in 1960s, reunites with the treasured ring after 16 years when 16-year-old Glen Keen finds it near shore. The ring bears a big W and brought back memories of his late mother. Bragg, now a miner, recalls his mother’s pride and his life since the loss. A separate piece notes Mrs. Pearl Halsey seeking persimmon trees to transplant in Mercer County, describing trees as rare in the area and her plan to pay for one if found.
