More than 1,500 persons attended the Biblical pageant Let There Be Light at Romney auditorium under Episcopal oversight. The production, praised for reverent solemnity, drew a record crowd for the area with estimates surpassing 1,600 attendees.
A delightfully presented program aired last evening over WHIS with Mida Lite opening the show. Performances included a series of arias duets and Italian pieces from students and teachers, accompanied ably by BIN Saunders of the WHIS studio.
A large Bluefield audience enjoyed the Esther Irene school of dancing second annual recital at the Joe Theater. Miss Ruth Lipes accompanied. students performed with varied costumes and tunes, highlighting talent and Miss Graham’s teaching. Performances included Wahoo Spiral, Baby Ballet, Spread Rhythm Around, Gallet of Spring, Let Yourself Go, and Mood Indigo among others.
The 0 Class B Q Sunday school held an evening gathering at the home of Mrs. KR Deaper on Park Way. Mrs. John Barnes presided, followed by discussion led by Mrs. W A Quakemeyer on West Virginia. The session ended with prayer by several members and had guest Kathryn Gallowey of Dye West 80.0. guest of days later.
Mrs and Mrs Clyde J Stevens with their son Dick will attend the marriage of Everett KE Stevang and Misa deaste Parry. The ceremony is set for Sunday June 1 in Elisabethton Tennessee.

Margaret Helasintoltor is listed for a soprano solo Come Unto Me and other singers include Mrs rank Feptor and Miss a i Bellar Ianiate. The draft lists sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses among participants and hints at a sermon or hymn selections.
A charming afternoon event hosted by Mrs. Henry B. Frazier at her Bluefield Virginia home honored Mrs. Charles Edward Frazier formerly Miss Ann Armistead with Miss Halon Hillard as guests of Mrs. Taylor Frazier. About seventy five friends attended and were served sea guart amid colorful summer flowers.
William Thomas Hancock son of Mr and Mrs Hancock received his DL degree from the University of Virginia Charlottesville at commencement. Hancock is a member of the Order of Colt honorary law fraternity and has joined the Richardson and Kemper law firm.
Local attorney Sidney J. Kass left on a business trip to the northern area accompanied by Mrs. Kywasa. They plan to attend the district Brith convention in Pittsburgh June 14 to 16 and return to Bluefield on Tuesday.
Miss Winifred Kellersberger daughter of Dr EH Kellersberger of Africa will be guest speaker at the Woman's Auxiliary of the First Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon June 17 at 3 o'clock. She will wear native costume and sing native songs with Rev Jon B Overmyer, pastor, accompanying in native tongue. All Bluefield church members invited. In charge Miss Elizabeth Warrick, chairman.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Carlisle Yost of Bluefield Va announce the birth of a daughter Patricia Anne born at Tiwefeta sanitarium Friday morning. Mrs. Vout formerly Miss Best Williams of Walton Avenue Walton is not available for several years. Mrs. Newton Bowman with her son Elmer of Mayhenry was summoned by the death of her uncle R. Hambrick. Mrs. R. H. Edwards of Bluestone has been visiting Mrs. Edwarda Roark. Mrs. Roarke improving steadily. Gibson Morrisey son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Morrisey left Tiavadeau for New York to visit friends.
A son, Thomas Andrew Jr., weighing six pounds, was born Friday, June 12, in Pocahontas, Virginia, to Mr. and Mrs. Z. A. French. The mother is Alex Lenna Honakar.
Miss Dorothy Martin completes three years of high school speech and will receive a certificate recital at 8 pm in Hamilton hall. The program, themed on rainbow meanings, features Mira Martin introduced by Mira Cohen, Donald Niswander’s humorous reading, a violin solo by Paul Lawrence with Mrs. Lawrence, and an abridged dramatic reading from The Little Miracle showing her range and dramatic ability.
In New Castle Virginia a large bear threatened sheep until a fire warden triggered action by telephone. The 275 pound bear was shot by Marshall Taylor and Murray Helms after the alert. Also noted, a high explosive compound Cordus is described as chewing gum by munition workers.
Hilda Eve Veneilt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O R Veneilt, hosted a pink and white birthday party from 2 to 4 PM with ice cream cake grapes and candy. Attendees included Bettie Jean Neale Lois Ann Neale Margaret Bail Nancy Wahble Pat Nester and many others in Newark Ohio and nearby towns.
Hunter McClung son of Mr and Mrs 5 B McClung recently graduated from Davidson College and visited here before leaving for Milcabeth New Jersey to join Simmons Manufacturing. Mrs H F Connally of Waco and her daughter Mrs Clarence Mareas of San Antonio visit Mrs Taylor Frazier and Mr Frazier in Mya. Connally Mareas and Frazier recently returned from a trip to Washington.
