A lightning strike killed eight year old boy in a bed where three brothers slept in a second floor room. The elder child died after hours of suffering with a liver burned by the bolt. The house and other occupants survived as the storm moved through the area.
Funeral services for James J. Francisco, the police officer slain Monday night by Lee Tabor, were held at Grace Methodist Church with Rev Thomas Priddy officiating. A large crowd attended as the police force and fire department served as pallbearers. the interment was in Walnut Grove cemetery amid heavy floral tributes despite bad weather.

Mrs. L. M. Pettijohn dies at St. Luke's Hospital after an operation. She was 28, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Burton, and survived by her husband, two children, her parents, and several siblings. Funeral at Grace Church at 2:50 this afternoon with Rev. Thomas Priddy. Interment Maple Park Cemetery.
